Dainty Bess

Photo by Brenda Landers-Smith from the Magee Rose Garden in Carlsbad, CA Hybrid Tea / Large-Flowered. Bred in United Kingdom (1925) by W. (Wm.) E.B. & Daughter Archer. Light pink [ARS lp] blooms. Mild, Spicy fragrance. 5 to 6 petals. Average diameter 3.5". Cupped-to-flat, single bloom form. Repeats its bloom again later in the season. Height of 24" to 5' (60 to 150 cm). Width of 24" to 4' . (60 to 120 cm). Growing: Zone 4 thru 9. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that. Parentage: Ophelia x Kitchener of Khartoum
